Boarding a hot and stuffy train with hardly any air conditioning

Yesterday, my partner and I went for a rather unpleasant train ride.

We had to go and see a van in a village about an hour away from the city. Apparently there seemed to be a problem with the trains, and when we arrived at the platform, it was packed with people. An angry woman told us it was due to a problem on the railways. When we got on the train, it was crowded, hot, and stuffy. I was making myself miserable by thinking that I had to endure this situation for one hour and that the train ride would seem eternal. The heat and lack of ventilation made me feel uncomfortable and claustrophobic. The windows were closed, and the air conditioning seemed to barely function. We couldn’t even sit down, as all the seats were occupied. I wished I had dressed in lighter and more breathable clothing, and if I’d known, I would have brought my hand-held cooling device to help me stay cool. Thankfully, as we got closer to our destination, the train gradually emptied, and at one point we could even sit down. After we went to see the van, we had to get the train back, but this time it was a different story. It was a train with a functioning HVAC system, and hardly any passengers on board. The train looked modern and was very comfortable. With all the cooling products and modern HVAC technology available, all trains should be properly climate-controlled. Next time, though, I will be more prepared in case I have to stay cool during another hot and stuffy train ride.
