I bought him a sofa instead of a bed.

My son moved into an apartment that was so small, my husband and I had to stand together when we walked in.

  • I couldn’t believe the size of the rooms.

He kept saying he wanted to take his bedroom furniture with him, but there wasn’t a bedroom. There was a small guest bathroom and a living room. The kitchenette looked like it could fit in a dollhouse. The entire apartment would have fit in our living room, but he loved it. He asked if we would buy him a small bed for the apartment. When we were shopping, my husband and I found a pull-out sofa. It wasn’t much bigger than a small sofa, and it pulled out into a twin bed. It was nice, and it would serve as a bed and a place to sit when watching television. I laughed when he said he wasn’t sure if he could find room for the sofa and a bed, and I showed him how it worked. He thought it was cool that his sofa was just like a futon, but it was stuffed. He pulled the bed out and laughed. I had put sheets on the bed, and added a blanket as a sofa throw. I also had two pillows for him that matched the sofa, and could be used as throw pillows. When he got done laughing at how good his dad and I were at organizing for a smaller space, his dad told him our first apartment wasn’t much bigger than this one. We had a sofa that pulled out into a bed, and the dining room table covered up our bathtub.
