From home to car, I’m always cool

I feel like an outsider in the place that I live right now.

  • I haven’t fully settled into the environment or become a part of any local community.

At the same time, I feel like I am built differently than a lot of the people in this area. When I say that, I mean that I come from a completely different region of the United States. I am rather accustomed to having cold air surrounding me and using layers of clothing to keep myself warm. I’m even used to babying my furnace and heating systems all winter just to survive. That said, I am not extremely accustomed to hot and humid weather 24/7 that necessitates non-stop air conditioning. Unfortunately, that is what you find in this particular climate. Everyone around me seems to be used to the heat and humidity, but I am not like them. They regularly turn off their air conditioning systems and work outside in the middle of the summer day. Personally, I am hiding in my AC. I can’t even wander outside for five minutes without being burnt by the Sun and feeling like I’m coming down with heat exhaustion. Because of these hot weather intolerances, I have bumped up my cooling system. My home’s AC unit is extremely powerful and efficient. And I even had my car air conditioning upgraded so that I don’t have to burn on the road. Using the automatic start on my car, I can get the indoor climate cool and dry before I climb behind the driver seat. Now, I only experienced the heat and humidity for a few seconds between high quality AC.
