The holidays are extremely difficult when you have a challenging family. I don’t come from one of those clans where the members of the family get along or act kindly towards each other. Instead, everybody is always fighting and trying to tear each other apart. As such, when the holidays roll around I get extremely stressed out. I don’t want to be in the same household as these folks because then I can’t escape their shenanigans. Instead, I have recently taken to staying in a cheap motel for my family visits. I can get away from them… But I can’t always get away from an uncomfortable environment. Meaning, the heating and cooling system in these cheap rented rooms are not always ideal. It’s very common to find out that the mini split heating and cooling system in the room does not operate well. There may not be much air flow, there could be a lack of heat, or the thermostat could be completely broken. I have stayed in hotel rooms that had absolutely no working heat in the middle of winter and I nearly froze all night. I have also stayed in a hotel room where I couldn’t turn the heat off and I sweated through the sheets. I have had a lot of experiences with unpleasant indoor air quality control systems and climate controls in all of my attempts to stay safely distanced from my family. At a certain point, I would prefer to just stay at home and enjoy my own Central Heating, Cooling, and ventilation system for free.
