My neighbor didn’t know me from Adam, but she was sure quick to tell everyone how bad my HVAC company was. I couldn’t believe how badly she was bashing the local HVAC company. My wife was talking to her and the more she bashed us, the angry I got. My wife grabbed my hand and squeezed lightly. She knew the woman had a difficult time with another local HVAC company and she was angry with all of them. She quietly asked if the woman would like to have her husband look at the air conditioning for her. She told our neighbor that I was one of the best HVAC technicians in the area, and I would gladly come to the house and check the AC unit. The neighbor hesitated, but she eventually said she would appreciate if I would do that for her. I was still upset about her bashing my HVAC company, but I thought I may get some insight on what the tech had done wrong, and who he was. I tried to make it sound like small talk, but I eventually found who the young HVAC tech was so I could talk to him. I repaired what he had destroyed and told her I would talk to the owner of the company and to the technician who had broken her AC unit. She thanked me and said that she wished she had come to my HVAC company and she wouldn’t have needed a second technician to repair her air conditioning. It wasn’t until a year later that my wife finally told her the HVAC company she was bashing belonged to me.
