So being a homeowner isn’t exactly all it’s cracked up to be.
There’s a bunch of adulting that has to go along with owning a house.
And that was a bit of a shock to the system. I’m really glad to have left apartment life with the mediocre HVAC equipment and going to the laundromat. But I really have had to face some challenges already when it comes to owning my first home. I bought a small, two bedroom starter home that needed some work. It is older and there were things that had to be updated and improved. My dad, who is a big time home project guy counseled me through the process. He thought that most of the stuff, he and I could take care of. Although, we both acknowledged that the heating and cooling equipment would have to be replaced. And of course, that is the domain of HVAC professionals. But it wasn’t just the heat pump that was shot. We found this out after all the other renovations were done and were addressing the HVAC unit. The HVAC contractor showed us that the ductwork was shot as well. So I was in a bit of a spot because ripping out the ductwork was going to be expensive and mess up the other completed renovations. On the advice of the HVAC professional, I went with the ductless multi split heating and cooling system. There are two ductless heat pumps in my home and the provide such quality heating and air that I’m glad the ductwork was no good.
