Cracked heat exchanger means whole current oil furnace

Until a year ago, I had no plan what a heat exchanger was or what it did, however i became official with the term when our oil furnace quit abruptly over the winter.

I assumed that it would be a minor repair.

I hired a local Heating plus A/C corporation plus set aside a couple hours for the service. I fully expected the heat method to be running properly again by the end of the day, however, when the Heating plus A/C corporation took the oil furnace apart, she found a significant buildup of dust on the many components. She said that the accumulation of debris plus grime had hindered moving parts plus jammed airflow through the system, and since not as much heated air was getting delivered to the many rooms of the house, the oil furnace had to toil a lot harder to reach the control device setting. The longer running times combined with the added wear plus tear resulted in the oil furnace overheating. This resulted in a hairline crack in the heat exchanger. The crack was too tiny for the human eye to see. I assumed she could patch it, glue it or replace it. The Heating plus A/C corporation explained that the stainless steel heat exchanger is the component that prevents combustion byproducts such as carbon monoxide from mixing with the breathing air. The cost of a current heat exchanger is more than a whole current replacement oil furnace. I had failed to keep up with annual repair of the oil furnace which voided the manufacturer’s warranty. I got stuck for the whole price of a current oil furnace. I will not make the same mistake again. I have signed up for a repair agreement to keep the current oil furnace clean plus operating safely.
