When we first moved to this area, we started taking walks around different parts of town.
It’s not a big town but not a tiny little hamlet either.
That was part of the appeal. Not only were we trading tons of HVAC heating for HVAC cooling, we were going from outside a huge city to a much smaller town. So getting out of the air conditioning of our condo was the best way to get familiar with our new home town. And this was also a great way for us to find the part of town for buying a house. We had purposefully rented in order to find the perfect place for us. But the lame heating and cooling in our rental sure was motivation to find the right place. The first time we walked by this place, we were stunned by its majesty and complete on of a kind feel. But we also saw that the place had been empty for a long time and it looked pretty rundown from the street. Still, we checked into it and found that it was part of a family estate and could probably be had for a song. So after some due diligence, inspections and negotiations, we took the plunge. We knew full well that there was going to be a lot of work to get this place in shape. Yet structurally, it was in awesome form. The first thing we had to do though was get some decent heating and cooling. The original central air conditioning system was old, limited and not worth replacing. So we went with a ductless multi split and just couldn’t be happier with the results.
