My dog REx likes to be outside. Rex is sitting by the door when my associate and I wake up in the afternoon, and she won’t come in until it gets dark. I cherish Rex, however I hate that she has taken a liking to our air conditioning unit. Rex lays in the shade next to the air conditioning unit, and it has become her personal outdoor restroom. I have tried spraying around the A/C unit. I hoped the aroma would make her stay away, however it doesn’t work. I tried spraying Rex with the hose to let him know he wasn’t supposed to be that close to the air conditioning unit. That doesn’t work. Rex yelled at, and I tied up away from the A/C unit. Rex breaks free of the chain and heads over to the A/C unit, however last week, my associate Ed and I put an invisible fence around the A/C unit, hoping that would keep him away. Ed and I watched him get zapped a couple times and thought that was the end of her need for the A/C unit. My oldest child yelped, and Ed and I watched the dog take a running leap through the invisible fence. Rex yelped, however then she settled down by the A/C machine and went to sleep. Short of building a new fence where the dog can run freely, my associate Ed and I don’t know what else to do. We’ve done everything the vet has recommended, however nothing works. My suggestion was to move the air conditioning unit, and Ed just gave me a dirty look. She recommended Ed and I tell our child to come take her dog into the household with her. It was her dog when she lived at home, and she should have it living with her.
