Have you ever looked at the HVAC equipment in certain businesses? I am surprised at how poorly business owners treat their HVAC units. Sometimes I look up at the air vent in a business bathroom. The vent is coated in dust from years of abuse. Someone should hire out ductwork cleaning and take care of that issue. Occasionally you can find the indoor air handler and that is always disgusting. It is usually covered in webs and rusted. Sometimes there is exposed ductwork in the ceiling that is in horrible shape. I can see rust spots and know the system isn’t energy smart. Ductless HVAC units are wall mounted and should be totally clean. A lot of the time I notice water spots on the machine and around the floor area. These are all signs of poor commercial HVAC maintenance. Why don’t businesses get their heating and cooling taken care of? At home we all make sure our HVAC units work right. Most people hire out for HVAC maintenance in the fall and springtime. Business owners really should do the same. I feel they are obligated to provide clean indoor air quality for their patrons. Don’t they want the HVAC to be energy smart too? They could save money with a properly oiled, lubricated and cleaned system. Right now they are only hindering their business by being cheap or lazy. A little HVAC love would go a long way. Look at the business HVAC next time you can. It is disgusting to see what businesses think is good enough.
