He is so passionate about the youth, and always strives to give them the best advice.
He began doing such community work when he joined university to earn his college degree. He was soon catching the attention of kids from the poor neighborhood where he grew up who had made it in life. They would always attribute their success to someone believing in them, and they wanted to pay it forward. When Joel began his small non-profit to create a safe space for kids in the rough neighborhood, he wasn’t ready for the generous support. One kid who now plays in the NBA, made it big time, and he came back to Joel with a check that would help transform many lives. He also wanted to give back to Joel himself for pushing him, and bought him a house not too far from where the center is located. Joel at first wanted to turn down the house, but the guy wasn’t taking no for an answer. The house was already in Joel’s name, and fully paid off. Joel moved in about a month later, just in time for fall maintenance to ensure he was ready for winter. He’d been leasing a house, so he knew the importance of proper HVAC maintenance. It’s the only way to make sure you have excellent heating and cooling in your home. Joel hired the same HVAC business he’d been using in the previous house to do the fall heating maintenance. They sent him a super friendly HVAC specialist who Joel knew would be an excellent person to speak to his kids someday soon.
