It’s been quite some time since we went on a nice vacation. As a family, we kind of fell into hard financial times when the pandemic hit. Before that, my partner and I were gainfully employed. However, when COVID hit, we both lost our jobs, and almost spent all our savings. A few things were a saving grace like the fact that we didn’t have to pay the mortgage for some time. We also found part time freelance jobs, and brought in some money. But, our kids were the real troopers. Out of boredom, our son and daughter began a small business selling accessories such as hair clips, scrunchies, and other decorative hair items. This business took on a life of its own when they used social media to advertise, and the money was amazingly good. During the fall of 2021, we had to hire the heating expert to come over and do maintenance on the heating system at the house. We contacted the usual Heating and AC company in the area to inquire about available appointment times. They slotted us for 10 am the following morning, which was okay since we’d be at home. This would be the first time we got heating system maintenance in almost 2 years. We did know that it’s important to do an annual maintenance, but due to the pandemic, we skipped a year. The heating expert came by at the assigned time, and did a great job. About a week later the bill for the maintenance work came in the mail and we are happy the Heating and AC company hasn’t increased its prices.
