Avoiding carbon monoxide disaster

Sadly, my mother passed away in her sleep.

It was quite a surprise to the entire family as she was always in great health and fitness.

The cause of death was found out to be from carbon monoxide. Apparently, her furnace had been leaking carbon monoxide without her knowing. I never realized something as small as our own heating machine can be a silent killer. This was a rude awakening for me to start changing some aspects of my life. The number one first thing I did was buy carbon monoxide detectors and place 3 of them around my house. I checked them every day, even if they already had an alarm to alert me if there was any. I also used to ignore my heating and cooling needs and just let both HVAC systems take care of themselves. I immediately called a HVAC business and had them send out a HVAC technician to inspect both heater and a/c. I also signed up for their A/C plan so I wouldn’t forget to get them constantly maintained and cleaned. I asked the HVAC professional multiple questions on how to prevent carbon monoxide leakage, and he suggested getting annual maintenance, and to replace the furnace filter frequently. I did exactly what he suggested and bought a whole bunch of air filters, and I had the HVAC plan as a reminder for annual maintenance. I now make videos about how deadly carbon monoxide is and I tell my story, if I can change one person’s life, then it will be worth it.
