Wine bottles are works of art

When I started our own wine making business about 5 years ago, one of the first things I did was to design our logo and labels.

I admittedly spent way too much time on it.

I was truly excited to bottle and sell the wine I’d already created and I wanted the labels to perfectly represent the product; My family owns and personally operates over several hundred acres of concord grapes. In the past, these lovely grapes have mainly been used for making juices, jelly and jam. However, I’ve developed a style of wine making that creates a far sweeter, more fruity and smooth flavor. I wait to choose the grapes until after the first official frost, which significantly raises the sugar content. After that, the racking and aging process before bottling takes at least a full year. My family then works together for months as a team to bottle the wine, cap it and stick the front and back labels on. I personally worked with a print shop to design the labels and include all of the required alcoholic information, The labels need to supply where the wine was bottled, alcohol content, the exact harvest year and more. To make the process quicker, they are simple to peel and adhesive labels. I order them in bulk so that they aren’t overly expensive, however because the two of us create several thousands of gallons of wine each year, the cost of custom bottles, caps and labels adds up quite suddenly. Both of us need to have a unique and specialized label for each variety of wine.
