HVAC techs are essential workers

Now more than ever the climate control system in a home or business is a sort of shield against disease.

Entering day 13 of the local quarantine and everyone is getting a little on edge. Luckily, my family and I haven’t turned on one another yet, we are still directing our madness towards the outside world. After all we are not locked inside by others, but by choice, because it is every person’s civic duty to protect their community by staying inside and practicing social distancing. When we see how many other people are still out there, like everything is normal, it makes all of us a little upset. I get how doctors and police officers still need to go to work during these times, but the HVAC repair guy, or a short order cook, or a bookseller are not essential to society. Or that is what I would have said last night, before waking up to find a dead air conditioner in the hall closet. All of a sudden things are a little different and I am starting to see why the HVAC repair tech really is an essential worker. Now more than ever the climate control system in a home or business is a sort of shield against disease. Please, don’t mistake me as saying that an HVAC system will protect you from the virus. There is no magic shield against that, but keeping superior indoor air quality will help to keep you in the best possible health. Change your air filters regularly, get the air ducts cleaned every two years or so, and don’t hesitate to call an expert for help during these wild and scary times.
