You heard of men having midlife crises right? Midlife crisis manifests in many different ways. Some guys just realize they don’t have the sex drive that they used to have and they try to compensate in silly ways. Others suddenly are concerned with how old-fashioned and out-of-touch they are, and attempt to be cool. Well, I’m glad I haven’t gone through any of those silly things yet. I really hope I never do! However, what I have gone through recently is a mid-career crisis. I simply woke up one morning and decided that I no longer wanted to be a plumber. I had been at the job for many years, and I have been making good money, but I decided it was no longer for me. Instead, I would opt to learn how to become an HVAC technician. Now that was a career that had been interesting to me for some time. It was time that I pursued it. I wasn’t getting any younger after all. I started taking HVAC technician classes in the evening while still working as a plumber during the day. I was learning all sorts of fascinating things and studying hard, so I knew I would be able to pass that final exam. I couldn’t wait to start life as an HVAC technician. I didn’t necessarily have aspirations to become the owner of my very own HVAC company though. I’ll leave that to other people for now. I just want the experience of a humble repairman! Then maybe I’ll look into more ambitious things concerning HVAC.
