My favorite writer of all time is a guy named Isaac Asimov.
- He wrote dozens of novels and hundreds of short stories, all of them in the realm of science fiction.
All of my favorite stories from him involve robots, because he was the “master” of robots at the time. Seriously, to this very day people still use the stories and ideas of Isaac Asimov when they write about robots. I credit him with pushing me in the direction of learning modern technology. Although Asimov never wrote any books about HVAC technology, I’m sure he was a fan of it. HVAC tech has evolved more quickly than almost any other kind of technology (except for online stuff, of course). I remember the first time I saw my dad remove the side panel from the main HVAC components. I looked inside and was dazzled by all the wires, fuses, and exotic parts I had never seen before – this is when I knew I wanted to work in the HVAC industry. If there was such a thing as a robot or space-ship industry at the time, I would have gone for that, but it seemed that HVAC technology was the closest thing I could find to sci-fi technology. It might have been a dumb reason to go into HVAC work, but it ended up working out great for me. I had no idea that HVAC experts made such good money, I just wanted to work with all the cool equipment they had! Thanks to being a sci-fi nerd, I have a great career in HVAC.
