I went on a supplier trip last week, and I was only gone for three afternoons.
My husband promised me that while I was gone he would behave.
Behaving meant that he was not going to touch anything appliances in our house, or try to repair or clean the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system, or any section of it. My husband made a pinky promise with me, despite the fact that I was not quick enough to look and see that he had his fingers crossed behind his back. When I got home, I had the worst and greatest mess I have ever seen all over our basement. My husband decided that before Winter showed up, which was still 4 months away, he was going to clean the heating system for himself. He was so proud that he had saved us a couple hundred dollars and the cleaning and repair, however he didn’t assume about the mess that he left for me to clean up. There was dust and debris scattered all around the section where the heating system sat. He had tools that he had used, and the kicker was that he wasn’t sure you had done the job officially. When I told him that I made him promise not to touch any of the appliances, or to clean the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system, he smiled. He really sweetly told me that he had his fingers crossed behind his back. How could any guy just lay still and not want to play with an appliance, or the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system, when his husband wasn’t home?I threw our hands up, walked to the bedroom and slammed the door. All I wanted to do was be alone for a while before I had to go in the basement and clean up that mess.
