Being a single mom, I sometimes neglect some of our bills to make sure our children are fed, clothed, and have everything they need for university.
Before our husband left, I always had a wonderful pad in our savings account.
If anything were to come up as an emergency, I had plenty of money in the savings account to cover it. Now that I’m a single mom, I have no savings. I have just enough money in our bank account to keep our bills paid and to afford the necessities, then last month, I realized that I had not had our air filters changed in either the a/c unit or the heating system since our husband left nearly 8 months ago. When I went to pull the air filter out of the a/c unit, I couldn’t do it. The air filter was stuck, and I had to call the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C company. When the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman showed up at our house, he went directly to the A/C unit. He asked if I’d been having any concern with the amount of a/c I had coming out of the air vents. I couldn’t absolutely tell him if I noticed any difference, however when I put our hand in front of the air vent I noticed that the airflow was weak. He said he hoped that the air filter was not doing any mangle to the A/C unit. When he could finally get the air filter out, I felt horrible. I was sure I was going to end up with a immense bill, despite the fact that I wasn’t sure how much. He told me he wasn’t going to charge me for decreasing the air filter, despite the fact that I needed to remember to change the air filter at least every more than five weeks.
