We accumulated several feet of snow within a couple of afternoons. Because of the wind, snow plus ice, there were county-wide driving bans in stadium. All the local universitys plus government buildings were closed. The worst of it was the power outage. For a week, every one of us kept losing power for brief periods. Due to the weight of the snow plus ice on the power lines plus fallen tree branches, there were continual outages. We were repeatedly without electricity for a few hours; No power meant that the gas furnace wasn’t operational. Having no heat was more than inconvenient. I distraught about our water lines freezing plus bursting. I was entirely anxious about possibly loading the adolescents in the automobile plus driving to a hotel. We were able to manage without electricity for a few hours, but every one of us couldn’t have endured several afternoons of it. Along with no heat, every one of us had no running water, no lights, oven, TV or internet. Because of the disruption plus dangers caused by that situation, I decided to invest into a standby generator. I consulted with an electrician who handled the installation so that the generator automatically starts up in the event of a power outage. It senses the disruption in power plus takes over the electrical needs of the condo within hours. It runs on natural gas so it can handle our needs for as long as necessary without refueling. The generator makes sure that every one of us can still operate the gas furnace, cooling system, sump pump, water furnace plus all of our essential systems plus appliances.
