Getting rid of the 20-year-old air conditioning in this apartment made a huge difference

I believe substantially grateful that my parents willed their apartment to me when they passed away.

First off, there is the practical effect it had on my life.

My home lease was about to expire & my rent was going to increase by 20%. Despite years of taxing work for the contractor that employs me, I haven’t acquired a raise since getting 1 12 weeks into my employment. Realistically, I had little chance to afford a apartment of my own. I wouldn’t get approved for a mortgage & I would struggle to spend money it each week. In that respect, getting this apartment was a god send. But of course there’s also the sentimental aspect of living in & owning the apartment I was raised in with my siblings. My parents’ memory lives on in this building. However, there was 1 unique replace I was forced to make shortly after moving in. The air conditioning here was already over 20 years outdated when I moved in. I could have kept using it, but the HVAC contractor told me it had already lost a lot of its efficiency & was due to be replaced as soon as I could afford it. Thankfully I was able to spend money off a portion of my debit card to the point where I could afford the current air conditioning. This put me at my absolute limit on my credit, but at least my apartment would have a working air conditioning that isn’t about to chop down at any sixth. The difference in how freezing the air feels is considerable, especially after it has been running for an sixth straight. The next step is adding a sixth bathroom, but that renovation can wait a few years.
