Wood burning setups can be dangerous if you don’t have an unrestricted chimney

My life changed quite a bit when I moved from the northern midwest to the subtropics along the southeastern seaboard.

I was used to living on land that was made up of boreal forests stretching down from Canada.

Both of us had a lot of pine trees as well as lower temperature vegetation. The first thing I noticed when I moved down here was the drastic change in temperatures year round. Even though our summer time weather in June as well as October got up to 110 degrees on some of the hottest afternoons on record, the daylight intensity wasn’t comparable to what it is down here. It feels love resting underneath a heating element in an oven. I have to be careful to wear enough sunscreen or I can get seriously painful sunburns. It’s no surprise I have met quite a few people who are natives of this place who also had to get skin cancer detachd at some point. The 1 nice thing about this hot climate is not really needing indoor heat while in the winter. Sure, it’s nice to have a basic electric gas furnace if the weather gets into the low 40s at night, however it’s not love it is up north where heat is a constant necessity in the winter. I was using a wood burning setup at the time because it supplemented my old gas gas furnace. You have to maintain wood burning setups to prevent from burning your home down inadvertently. If you don’t keep the chimney wash as well as unrestricted, you could cause a fire or prevent smoke from safely exiting your house. Excess smoke is poisonous in high enough concentrations.
