When my girlfriend’s dad had a heart attack, she wanted to move back home to be close to him.
He was living alone in a very large house and he was happy for both of us to come back and live there with him.
My girlfriend and I were already engaged and we were planning to get married and have a family. We knew that we would eventually leave the city and end up somewhere in the country. I didn’t anticipate leaving the city scene so quickly, but it has been really nice to get out of the city and back to nature. My girlfriend and I wake up much earlier every morning and we enjoy an hour together before I head off to work. We never had much time together when we lived in the city, because we stayed out so late in the evening. My girlfriend has been in the house every afternoon taking care of her dad. She makes a really nice dinner for all of us and we are usually in bed before 10. I found a great job right around the corner, so I can still work as a licensed HVAC technician. The owner of the small HVAC repair shop was really impressed by my credentials and he offered me a good hourly wage and benefits. I was surprised that the small HVAC repair shop offered me medical and dental. I took a small pay cut on my hourly wage, but I don’t have to drive all the way to the city to perform my regular HVAC trade work. It’s nice to slow down and enjoy the country and nature.
