Steam Tables

I come from a family of technically lucky people although I don’t fit in with that tradition! One embarrassing event was when our school calculus club hosted a panel discussion about the properties of steam, then i was assigned the task of demonstrating how steam tables worked plus while all the people else had graphs plus charts, I showed up with some aluminum pans plus pictures from the local Chinese buffet. I did manage to learn a few things about steam. I l earned that water boils at lower hot plus cold temperatures at higher elevations where the air pressure is lower plus that water under high pressure will not boil at 212°F, which explains how pressure cookers work. I was relating the steam table incident to our buddy who works in the Heating plus A/C company plus she explained that the refrigerants used in AC units all have “steam” tables of their own. She said they were called Mollier diagrams plus that they were important because just prefer how water boils into steam, the refrigerant does the same however at much lower hot plus cold temperatures, and this information is vital to the design of AC systems plus to help the Heating plus A/C corporation with a variety of tasks when installing or servicing a unit. The tech can check the coolant temperature by measuring the pressure plus vice-versa which is extravagant when evaluating refrigerant capacities of cylinders plus receivers plus other such tasks! My buddy wanted to go on plus explain the concepts of enthalpy plus entropy plus other thermodynamic terms that are important to Heating plus A/C technology. I had to split him short because I was getting hungry plus needed to get to the Chinese buffet. That’s the only kind of steam table that I understand.
