I meant to help, I made it worse

Occasionally the best intentions have the worst outcomes, have you ever experienced this? I believe this from my own life plus I’ve seen it far too many times on accident… including recently, when I felt that I was doing the right thing when I briefly dropped by my friend’s house to make sure that his plants were surviving okay, while he was out of town.

I wanted to make sure that everything was in tip-top shape back at the cute little house, but unfortunately, I should have paused and thought through all of the potential ways that I could create a disaster.

Namely, the fact that by bothering to touch the thermostat I could completely ruin their entire central heating plus cooling system in one foul swoop. The problem started when I walked into the house plus quickly realized that the indoor air was tepid plus muggy. It seems the massive central cooling program wasn’t doing its task. The indoor air quality was even hotter than outside plus the a/c unit sounded completely silent while I was in the house. I started fiddling with the thermostat, but the thermostat started blinking random lights and making weird sounds. Then, after a moment or multiple, the thermostat screen went completely blank in front of my face plus I couldn’t believe any fresh indoor air passing through the vents anymore. I immediately got out my phone and called out a professional Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C worker for professional help. However, when the air quality control specialist arrived at the scene, he told myself and others that the a/c program had been fried by all my thermostat fiddling. My neighbor did not appreciate my great intentions when I had to break the news that I broke their expensive AC.
