Right now, I’m working in my comfortable office, while it is below freezing.
How do homeless people, especially the person who sleeps on the beach in the sand, handle the freezing weather all night, without freezing? Last night, it went down to below zero.
With the windchill, it was a lot colder than that. How can you sleep in light bedding all night with the weather so cold? I’d like to invite them into my home for the night, but that could backfire on me; heating and cooling systems and radiant heated floors are just a few of the luxuries that these homeless people don’t have. A lot of them live lives of solitude, and don’t talk to others for days on end. I see them periodically outside the local corporation, asking for food or cash as they sit next to a small space gas furnace that the store puts out for them. What happens in someone’s life to make them have to live on the street? I don’t know. It’s despite the fact I also don’t want to find out. I know the heating and cooling company near me feeds some of them, and periodically they pay them to help clean the heating and cooling device, or provide a box of HEPA filters for the owner! I try to supply them with some money when I can, but most of the time I am paying with an app on my computer, and have no cash to give them. Maybe a gas space gas furnace could be a nice gift.
