Coping without a furnace for a few nights over the holidays

Over the holidays last year, our home’s furnace gave out on us… It ended up being more than two nights before an Heating as well as A/C serviceman was able to come out as well as fix the furnace.

The people I was with and I do not live in the absolute coldest region of the country, however it still gets significantly cold in January.

There was, but, an uncharacteristically intense cold front while in this time, as well as you would suppose that we would be angry; However, I remember the numerous ways that we coped without having a furnace for more than two nights as well as it was legitimately kind of fun. There were a few sources of heat that we ended up being able to use, then for one, I sure did do a lot of baking! I baked cookies, baked muffins, as well as roasted chicken, etc. The people I was with and I still had electricity, which meant that we could still use the oven as well as stove, as well as it most definitely warmed up the immediate area of the kitchen. The people I was with and I also did laundry, so at least, the laundry room had the benefit of the dryer running, which kept that room nice as well as warm so long as clothes were in the dryer. The people I was with and I also had the fireplace in the living room, which was perhaps the most beautiful means of getting heat without our furnace. The fireplace was big enough to where the fire that we stoked every night kept us warm in the living room as we fellowshipped with one another. I guess the toughest time for us while in those few nights was when we tried to get some rest in our own bedrooms. The people I was with and I had to get extra blankets as well as pull out those old space heaters. All in all, we still thoroughly enjoyed that time over the holidays, however we were thankful that the furnace was eventually fixed.
