Lightning accident

We hadn’t heard anything from the meteorologist about there being rain, however we absolutely had lightning the other night. The lightning hit the tree right outside our house, the tree trunk broke in half, and it landed right on top of our house. Along with crashing through the roof, it took out the power lines that led into our home. We lost all power, and we even had electricity arcing in the kitchen. We had to find a way to safely call the electric and fire companies and then our homeowner’s insurance dealer. We were afraid to touch any of the door knobs because they were metal. We didn’t want to get electrocuted. Without electricity, our house was getting hotter by the second and the humidity was building up, making it even hotter. I wished there was some way to get to the generator so my family could have a/c. With a/c, we wouldn’t need to worry about mold and mildew. When I said this, my husband pointed at the gaping hole in our ceiling. He said the no amount of a/c and dehumidification was going to help when we had that opening there in the roof. He was more worried about birds getting into the house. As we stood there looking, I finally got in touch with the electric corporation who promptly had someone cut off our power. Now, all we had to do was find somewhere to stay while the insurance has a business repair our home. My husband said that we should stay with our daughter, even though I wanted to go to a hotel since the insurance was paying. I knew we would have a nice AC at the hotel.
