The guy from the pool company wanted to charge me to replace the heater

I called the pool company last winter, because my wife wanted a heater for the inground pool.

I wasn’t particularly interested in heating the pool, but my wife loves to swim and uses the pool every day in the summer.

I really believed she would use the pool during the winter months also if the water was warmer. She was positively thrilled when I agreed to call the pool company. I had a 4HP heater installed. The heater uses propane to heat the water as it circulates the water from the pool to the filter. It was an expensive set up, but the parts came with a 3 year warranty. We didn’t have any trouble with the heater until the end of this winter season. My wife woke up one morning and went outside to use the pool. Instead of the water being a comfortable and warm 90 degrees, it was 66 and frigid. The heater shut off in the middle of the night and we had no idea why. I contacted the pool heating company and spoke with a contractor about the problem. They sent a technician out to inspect the heater. The guy from the heating company wanted to charge me $155 for the parts to fix the heater. That’s when I pulled out my service contract. All parts and labor were covered for three years. I showed the guy my contract and he immediately changed his tune. The guy apologized for the confusion and repaired the problem without another question. I’m very thankful that my wife always keeps all of our paperwork and service contracts.
