A friend asked me what I thought about boilers

The other day when we were out shopping, a friend of mine asked me what I thought about a boiler system as a type of heating unit. I told her that I really didn’t know all that much about boilers since I’ve never lived in a house with one. I do know that my grandparents used to heat their home with a boiler system and it always used to scare me when I was a kid. I would go down into the basement where the boiler system was installed and the boiler would make all kinds of weird clicking and hissing noises whenever I was down there. I always thought that it was on the verge of blowing up and so I was always really nervous whenever my grandma sent me down to the basement to get something for her. I mean, I guess older people like my grandma and grandpa weren’t really nervous about having a boiler because they never seemed to be bothered by the hissing and clicking sounds at all. Anyway, when my friend asked what I thought about her getting a boiler system as their new heating source, I wasn’t really sure what I should tell her other than the fact that I’m afraid of them! I don’t know if that’s considered advice or not, but if I were her, I would definitely go with a heat pump or an electric furnace system instead of a boiler. We do all have to make our own decisions, though. If she gets a boiler, then I’m never going to her house during the winter!
