I don’t know what compelled me to transport to this area in the first place.
After being in the neighborhood for a decade, I wanted to try living anywhere more rural than that setup.
I should have tried for the suburbs instead of swinging to the opposite end of the residential spectrum. Because right now, I’m so far out of neighborhood that I have to drive for 40 minutes to get to the closest grocery store. There’s a gas station 20 minutes away, which is the closest supplier in any direction. Likewise, my closest friend is 50 miles down the road. I like the seclusion plus privacy that this place affords me. On the other hand, you know I hate the constant driving as much as I hate the fear of being so far from hospitals plus other emergency services. On the same token, it isn’t straight-forward getting companys plus necessary repairmen to visit me so far away from town. A plumber once charged me $5 extra for every additional mile it took to get to my house after he left the neighborhood limits that afternoon. My heating plus cooling company doesn’t charge me for miles, but they basically never provide me priority on appointments. The worst thing is dangerous situations where they need to replace a key component in my Heating and A/C system, but they currently don’t have the section in their truck. If I lived right next to their shop, they obviously could leave for a few minutes plus return with the component. Not only is that not possible in my case, but this time they absolutely had to special order the section from the manufacturer. That time, I was stuck waiting an additional week for the Heating and A/C company to finally acquire the right section to get my heating plan finally working again.
