He could not imagine the damage her error would have done to the HVAC unit and the air quality. One day, she altered the settings on the thermostat, and Benedict noticed the minute he opened the door to his house. Benedict could already feel an oncoming headache. Lucille had been present during his consultation with the HVAC professional and had even helped him choose among the many HVAC brands. How could she know so much about HVACs and make such a mistake? Lucille had friends in the HVAC business; her brother was an HVAC repairman, which was why it was the last thing he expected from Lucille. She even helped the HVAC provider set up his workstation during the HVAC installation. Something was not adding up; for someone who once worked in the local business and knew more about HVAC maintenance than he did, Lucille should have done better, especially on such a simple task to help with indoor comfort. Then it dawned on Benedict that she must have done it on purpose. Lucille always complained that Benedict policed her a lot, and she knew he would check if she had done the simple task.
