The HVAC technician told me I needed a new furnace.

It didn’t surprise me that the technician told me I needed a new furnace.

I knew that when winter ended last year.

I didn’t have our inspection done this fall, because I knew he was going to tell us we needed a new furnace. I was hoping this furnace would last us the winter, while we saved money to purchase a new furnace. It didn’t happen that way. I came home from work early because of a blizzard. The schools closed their doors for the rest of the week. I was working on upcoming lessons, when I realized it was getting cold in the house. I left out a groan, knowing the furnace had quit working. I called the HVAC company and asked how long it would take to get a new furnace, and told them what had happened. They sent an HVAC technician to the house that confirmed my assessment. We picked out a new furnace, and that was when he told me it would take a couple of days for it to be delivered, and they could install it the next day. I couldn’t go without heat for almost a week. I asked if they had any lightly used furnaces they could install today? He shook his head and said that wasn’t possible. He could get some space heaters for me to use while waiting, and he could check the water pipes to make sure they had heat tape and wouldn’t freeze. I asked him to check the water pipes for heat tape, but I would go to my mom’s house while waiting for the furnace. He apologized because he could do nothing more, but I understood. I was the one who should have had a new furnace installed during the summer or fall.
