Kenny and I had been hot and heavy for a few weeks, and then he changed. When someone changes that early in a relationship it is a huge red flag. I got the impression that Kenny had only been showing me the best side of himself. When you are in a long-term relationship your partner will eventually see you for who you really are, and that’s what happened with me and Kenny. I realized he was crazy, and might even be potentially dangerous, so I broke it off. The following week I got a work order for an HVAC inspection and repair job at Kenny’s house. As much as I did not want to see Kenny again, the HVAC contractor dispatched me on the call, so I had no choice but to confront my ex. I noticed right away that there was a major issue with the air conditioner, because it had been smashed up with a baseball bat. Instead of just booking a service call, this idiot actually destroyed his own HVAC system just to have a reason to call me! I excused myself, went back out to the van, and called the HVAC contractor to tell him what had happened. He told me to sit tight, and he would send help. Ten minutes later three other HVAC techs arrived, but not to do work, just to watch my back! They stood behind me while I explained to Kenny that he would have to find someone else to fix his air conditioner, and if he ever called me again these guys would come pay him a visit.
