Air conditioning unit keeps turning on and off

For the past few weeks, my home has been very uncomfortable to live in.

My schedule has remained mostly the same, but one thing has changed.

My home’s temperature. It started a few weeks ago, when I arrived home from work. When I first got home, I noticed my home was slightly chilly. No problem, I went over to my furnace and turned it on. The heating unit quickly began to fill the room with warm air. I sat down on my computer and began going through my emails, when suddenly, I heard the familiar click of my heating device turning itself off. This was definitely odd, because I didn’t turn the HVAC unit off, and it’s not supposed to turn off unless someone turns it off or if it reaches the optimal temperature, which it was nowhere near. I went over and turned it back on again and stood there for a few minutes watching it. Sure enough, it did the same thing again. It was only heating the home for a few minutes before shutting off. I had more important things to do at that time, and hoped that it would start working normally again. Well, here I am a few weeks later, and it still has not returned to normal. As a result, my home has become very uncomfortable. I had enough, and called the local HVAC corporation. The HVAC business sent a heating tech, and he looked over my device. He told me the issue was a clogged air filter. Due to lack of airflow, the HVAC system was overheating and turning off as a result. Once the A/C filter was changed, it went back to working normally.
