The AC condensate pump was broken, causing water to leak onto the basement floor

Our home was in an excellent location, but it was often hot.

  • For all my life, I had access to the beach which made me very happy.

My bedroom overlooked the beautiful ocean view, and my friends loved to come over to spend the night. My parents had left town last month, so I had the house all to myself. I wanted to do some reading, so I chose to spend the time alone. The cooling system was always on to keep the house comfortable due to the hot climatic condition. However, I started noticing an issue with the cool air coming into the house later that day. It seemed the HVAC unit was struggling to blow cold air into the house. I went down to the furnished basement to check and found the problem. The basement floor was covered with water, but I couldn’t trace the source. I managed to switch off the HVAC unit and other electrical components before calling the AC repair company for assistance. An hour later, an HVAC mechanic rang the doorbell at our front door, which I opened. She came in, and I explained the scenario down in the basement. I led the HVAC expert to the basement, and she began diagnosing the issue with the AC unit. It seemed the cause of the problem was the condensate pump which wasn’t doing its job of draining all the excess moisture outside. The HVAC technician began mending the problem by unclogging the condensate pump’s pipes that had accumulated gunk over some time. My parents were delighted to hear I was handling the faulty AC system when they called half an hour later. When the AC mechanic was done, I began cleaning all the water and was happy everything was back to normal.
