It’s only the middle of December and I’m already worried that the heating system might need to be replaced this year.
I hate to think it might already be time to make the changes, but I’m having a lot of problems keeping the house warm.
The furnace seems to run all day and all night and it never gets warm enough for the machine to shut off. The furnace used to work a lot better. When my wife and I bought the machine, it worked so well that we had to keep the temperature much lower than we normally would. Now the heat barely works well enough to keep the living room and the kitchen warm. If the bedroom doors are closed, then the rooms are all cold because the furnace is not powerful enough. I told my wife that we should probably have a tune-up performed on the furnace and she thought it was a good idea too. I contacted a local furnace repair company. I told the owner of the business that I was concerned about the furnace because it was running for a long time and never seemed to reach the desired temperature. The service technician recommended a tune-up to get started. During the service tune up, the certified and licensed technician checked all of the electrical and mechanical components. The age of the furnace was definitely a problem, but it wasn’t keeping the machine from working properly. The ignition switch was going bad and the technician replaced it along with the flame sensor. He said the furnace should be fine for the rest of the year and I am very hopeful that he is correct.
