Done with being a plumber

I have heard of men going through midlife crises in one way or another. Even though I seem to be getting close to that age, I’m very glad that I have not yet experienced anything like that. However, what I have experienced over the past few months is what I would call a mid-career crisis. One morning, I woke up and I realized that I was no longer interested in working as a plumber. I thought about what I might pursue instead. There was definitely one other job that I had my eye on when I got out of high school. I had interest in becoming an HVAC technician. I thought it was time to give that a try! I started going to HVAC school in the evenings and still working as a plumber during the day to pay the bills. It was really rough, but I was enjoying all of the things I was learning about being an HVAC technician and I was studying hard. I really wanted to get out of the plumbing business and I was willing to do anything to make it happen. You might think that I had enough ambition to be my own independent HVAC contractor, but I wasn’t interested in that. I simply wanted to become an HVAC repairman and work for one of the HVAC companies in town. Once I get my feet wet and really start getting enough experience, then I may look into starting my own business. One must be moving ever forward in life after all!
