A change of careers

You’ve probably heard of men having some sort of midlife crisis somewhere in their forties.

These midlife crises are typically characterized by the man desperately clinging to some form of his youth. Well I’m pushing 40, but I don’t think I’ve experienced anything like that yet. Instead, I seemed to have had a mid-career crisis. You see, I’ve been a plumber pretty much all my life since after high school. However, one day, recently I woke up and decided that I no longer had any desire to be a plumber. I decided instead that I would take a look into becoming an HVAC technician. It honestly seemed like a more interesting job, and I think my mechanical know-how would serve me well. Besides, I had always been interested in being an HVAC technician when I was younger, but being a plumber just seemed wiser at the time. I started taking HVAC technician classes in the evenings while continuing my plumbing job during the day in order to continue to make money until such time as I would switch jobs. I’ve been learning a lot about HVAC during these night classes, and I must say that it truly is an interesting career. I think I’ll have a lot of fun fixing people’s central air conditioning and heating problems. I’ll be graduating soon, and I’ll finally be able to put plumbing behind me for good. I made good money while it lasted, but it’s time to do something with my life that I will genuinely enjoy!
