We couldn’t stay in our house

We didn’t hear anything about rain from the meteorologist, but we had a lot of lightning the other night.

  • The lightning hit the tree right outside our house, and the tree trunk broke in half, and it landed right on top of our house.

Along with crashing through the roof, it took out the power lines that led into our home. My family lost all power, and had electricity arcing in the residing room. We had to find a way to safely call the power business, the fire business, and then our homeowner’s insurance business. We were afraid to touch any of the door knobs because they were metal. We didn’t want to get electrocuted. Without electricity, our house was getting hotter by the minute and the humidity was building. I wished there was some way to get to the generator so we could have air conditioning. With air conditioning, we wouldn’t need to worry about mold as well as mildew. When I said this, my partner pointed at the gaping hole in our ceiling. He said that no amount of air conditioning or dehumidification was going to help us when we had a big hole in our ceiling. It would be pointless. He was more anxious about birds getting into the house. As we stood there looking at the big hole, I finally got in touch with the electric contractor who promptly had someone cut our power. Now, all we had to do next was find somewhere to stay while the insurance has a corporation repair our home. My partner said we should stay with our daughter, but I wanted to go to a hotel since the insurance was paying. I knew all of us would have good AC at the hotel.
