A big hole in our ceiling

The other night, we had lightning hit the tree right outside our house, despite not heating anything about rain from the meteorologist.

The lightning hit the tree right outside our house, the tree trunk broke in half, and it landed right on top of our house.

Along with crashing through the roof, it took out the power lines that led into our home. We lost all power, and we had electricity arcing in the residing room. We had to find a way to safely call the power company, the fire company, and then our homeowner’s insurance company. We were afraid to touch any of the door knobs because they were metal. None of us wanted to get electrocuted. Without electricity, our home was getting hotter by the hour and the humidity was increasing. I wished there was some way to get to the generator so we could have air conditioning. With air conditioning, both of us wouldn’t need to worry about mold and mildew occuring. When I said this, my partner pointed at the gaping hole in our ceiling. She said that no matter how much air conditioning and dehumidification we had, it wouldn’t make a difference for as long as we had that opening there. She was more sad about birds getting into the house. As both of us stood there looking, I finally got in touch with the electric company who promptly had someone turn off our power. Now, all we had to do was find somewhere to stay while the insurance has a corporation fix our home. My partner said we should stay with our daughter, however I wanted to go to a hotel since the insurance was paying. I knew both of us would have an enjoyable experience with the air conditioning system at the hotel.
