Saving my pennies for central air conditioning

In this area, the Summer season never lasts all that long.

We’re fortunate if both of us get to love several months of hot weather, open skies and bright sunshine.

For that brief period, the high temperatures and humidity can make for a very overheated, sticky and uncomfortable homestead. Most people I can get by with window air conditioners and box fans, however I’d rather have a central cooling system. I’ve done my research, and there are some really advanced cooling technologies on the market today. Today’s air conditioners achieve up to 26 SEER and offer energy saving features such as temperature zone control, sophisticated dehumidification capability and adjustable-speed operation. I’d really like to be able to close the windows against the influx of bugs, pollen, dust, exhaust fumes and excess noise pollution. I think the house would stay cleaner. Plus, the cooling system would filter out the airborne contaminants. I wouldn’t need to vacuum or dust as often, and my whole family would all benefit from healthier air quality. I would prefer the ability to simply lower the thermostat to cool off the entire house. I am convinced I’d sleep better at night. Unfortunately, central air conditioning is very high-priced. I’ve been saving up for the purchase price and cost of installation, however other issues keep taking priority. Because of a concern with my transmission, I depleted my savings for the down payment on a modern car. I recently needed to update the washing device and water boiler. I’ve already had a professional Heating, Ventilation, and A/C contractor deliver a free estimate for a modern air conditioner. I’ve considered taking out a beach house improvement loan to cover the costs, although I hate to make payments. However, while I’m saving up cash, I’m also living without any air conditioning.
