There’s Ductless Mini Split Systems in My Trailer Classroom

I’ve been teaching at the same school for 3 years now. It was my first teaching position after graduating college, and I had no plan on switching schools. However, with the school system accepting more and more students, our classrooms are filling up quickly. In order to create more space for the amount of children we have, the school system decided to add some trailers at the back of the school for extra classrooms. This sounded like a great solution, until they told me that my class would be in one of the trailers. I’m one of the youngest teachers at the school, which meant I was a perfect candidate for the makeshift classroom. Thankfully, the school board considered the heat and air. There was no way to connect my classroom to the existing central HVAC system, so they installed two ductless mini split systems. They were mounted on opposing walls, and there was a single remote that could control both ductless mini systems. I could flip between the heat and air conditioning, and I could adjust the temperature up and down. For the most part, the ductless mini split systems work, but they’re not great at evening heating and cooling the classroom. During the warmer months, I have to run a dehumidifier, because the hot air seeps in and the air becomes thick. I love teaching at this school, but I’m hoping we can build onto the existing school so I can move out of this trailer. I don’t know how much more I can handle even with the ductless mini split systems.
