Getting a lot out of a cycling class

I’ve never looked or felt better.

Before I signed up for a group fitness class, I did some research. I looked into the many options and finally decided on an indoor cycling class. From what I read, this type of workout is great for weight loss, improving strength and increasing endurance. On the days when I have class, I use cycling as my workout and feel good about the accomplishment. On the off days, I concentrate more on strength and resistance training. The cycle class was a lot more challenging than I expected, but I’ve seen results. I take an hour class, four days per week and noticed a difference within a few weeks. Now I feel that I need to continue cycling to maintain the benefits. I’ve definitely seen that cycling is a great way to optimize cardiovascular health. I like that I get my heart pumping and am sweaty and breathing hard without putting stress on my joints. I’ve read that depending on the difficulty and length of the class, it’s possible to burn between 400 and 600 calories per class. I’ve managed to lose a considerable amount of weight since signing up. I dropped several pounds without adjusting my eating habits. I was then motivated to change my diet and lost even more weight. I’ve never looked or felt better. I was surprised by the soreness I felt in all of my major muscle groups after the first few classes. I hadn’t realized how much I’d utilize my core strength to stabilize my body or my upper body to support myself on the bike. I certainly feel my glutes working as I pedal, especially when we do an incline, increase resistance or stand up from the seat.
