Do you like scary stories? If so, check out my horror podcast! It’s called a Scary Home Companion, and involves killers, cannibals, and cults: music, monsters and mayhem, and more! I have been doing it for a couple of years now, and it just remains stagnant and it’s driving me bananas.
I focus on putting out the best show possible, with the scariest original stories around, but it’s hard to drum up new listeners! I guess it was naive to think that just because I do my best that would be enough.
I need to raise my visibility. Search engine optimization is something that everyone can do, but not everyone can do well. Using search engine optimization is how you get your website or podcast to turn up at the top of search results pages. This is basically the way you get new people to find your show… well, this and internet marketing, but that costs money. There are all kinds of social media management companies, seo services, and internet marketing companies out there, and I know a lot of them are good. But I have no money ,no budget, and so using free platforms like social media, and utilizing search engine optimization as best I can is all I can do for now. I have tried using some pay per click ads before, mostly on Facebook and Instagram, with mixed results. The pay per click raises my visibility on social media, but that doesn’t really translate into listens for my show. I really need to consult a professional for some help.
