Time is currency, so they say, however having time or currency is great, but usually you have to trade one for the other… I tried to save time by fixing our own heating, ventilation and A/C component at our cabin and swiftly l acquired I lost time and lost currency.
Not only did I take twice as long as a professional to service the unit, I had to buy some tools to repair the cooling system.
I should have consulted an expert or called one out to assess our problem before trying to repair it. I further increased the hassle by getting a wire stuck and the component had to basically be replaced because I messed it up. I had some heating and cooling expertise but never diagnosed a component before. I was a trade service service guy but I didn’t work on cooling systems or heaters… The systems can be complex and use electricity so safety measures have to be followed strictly; however a normal heating, ventilation and A/C service should take 4 to 8 hours but for myself and others it took 14 to 16, I basically started it in the evening and finished fixing the cooling system the next afternoon. If I wanted to save currency and time, I could have found a cheap supplier nearby to repair the cooling system and just watched how he fixed it too. The service guy was fast and pointed out a few things I may have done wrong, he was an experienced worker and it took him only 3 hours to repair our air conditioner unit. I’m gonna have a better plan and a better expert next time when our heating and cooling component breaks.
