There’s truly something about the construction industry that intrigues me.
It’s fun to build something with my hands.
For the past 5 years, I have been working for a corporation that builds bridges. I started off working as a general laborer. I cleaned up after the construction crew was done working. I spent multiple weeks working on the clean up crew. Then I gained a small promotion. I got my dealer’s license several years later and I started working with cement. I helped build three of the bridges that span the overpass leading into the downtown area of the city. I poured the stone and I also placed the rebar. I built those bridges with my bare hands pretty much and that is something that several people cannot say. After the bridge projects were eventually completed, I gained a pressing promotion from the construction corporation. The owner promoted me to head of concrete projects. I went from $15/hr to $71,000 a year in a few days. The promotion also has a ton of enjoyable perks such as a corporation paid car and an expense account for food, drinks, hotels, and good times. I have a huge amount of responsibilities as the head manager, despite the fact that I rarely have to stand outside in the overheated sunshine all through the day! When the temperatures are about 85 and the humidity is at 100%, resting in an air conditioned office is a pretty fantastic perk too. I certainly don’t know what to expect in the future despite the fact that I can say for sure that this corporation will likely be part of it. They enjoy promoting people from within and there is still room for me to grow..
