The promotion I got is fantastic

There’s something about the construction industry that I really enjoy! It’s honestly fun to build something with my hands.

For the past few years, I have been working for a contractor that builds various styles of bridges. I started off working as a general laborer. I cleaned up after the construction crew was entirely finished. I spent roughly six weeks working on the clean up crew. Then I received a small promotion. I was able to get my business license several years later and I started working with cement. I helped build numerous bridges that span the overpass heading into the downtown part of the city. I poured the cement and I also placed the rebar. I built those bridges with my bare hands basically and that is something that multiple people cannot say. After the bridge projects were eventually completed, I received a pretty nice promotion from the construction contractor. The owner promoted me to head of concrete projects. I went from $15/hr to $69,000 a year in a few days. The promotion also has a bunch of awesome perks like a contractor paid car and an expense account for food, drinks, hotels, and fun times. I have a lot more responsibilities as the head supervisor, but I hardly ever have to rest outside in the sun all day! When the uneven temperatures are roughly 85 and the humidity is at 100%, standing in an air conditioned office is a pretty excellent perk too. I do not know for certain what the future has in store for me, but I can say for sure that this contractor is a part of it. They love being able to promote from within and there is still room for myself and others to grow at this place..
