Discovering the many options at the gym

I ended up enrolling in a membership.

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine invited me to go to the local gym with him. On the drive there, she admitted that she was hoping I’d sign up for a gym membership with her. If we signed up together, we’d both get all kinds of perks and discounts. I wasn’t really interested in paying for a gym membership. I handle my workouts at home. I’ve invested in a weight bench, some free weights, a treadmill and a yoga mat. I was happy with that. Since we were already on the way to the gym, I figured I might as well check it out and benefit from using the machines. When we stepped inside, I was impressed by the facility. The place is huge and bright and ultra modern. There is a juice bar where I can get a smoothie or a protein shake. The locker rooms are really great with tons of shower stalls, fluffy towels and steam rooms. There’s an indoor swimming pool and several hot tubs. There’s a track around the perimeter of the facility as well as several rows of different types of treadmills. I’ve never seen so many rowing machines, ellipticals and stair climbers. They have a rock wall, heavy bags, speed bags and an area primarily dedicated to weight lighting. There’s machines to target all different muscle groups. There’s also several different studios where they hold classes. I can sign up for boot camp, cross fit, pilates, yoga or spin classes at all different times of day during the weekday as well as weekends. I ended up enrolling in a membership. The fees are fairly expensive but I think it’s worth it. I’m now excited to workout everyday. I look forward to heading to the gym and usually spend a couple hours there.
