I was raised in an era that when you were a guest in another’s dwelling, you go by their rules.
That’s just the way it is and there actually isn’t any arguing that specific point. My parents were undoubtedly gracious individuals and raised me to be that way as well. That being said, if I had refused to eat something put in front of me, I would have met some true reality. I recall how I once came back home grumbling about the Heating, Ventilation and A/C at my grandparents’ dwelling. My father sat me down and gave me a bit of a lecture. He told me that I needed to understand the context of situations like that. My grandparents were on a fixed income and had to do with what they had as far as the Heating, Ventilation and A/C settings went. That easily stuck with me. However, I am actually having a tough time with my in-laws and how they go about heating their dwelling. When I am there for the holiday season, I just sweat and sweat as the Heating, Ventilation and A/C temperature is set around 78 degrees. But again, it’s their dwelling, so I have to keep my Heating, Ventilation and A/C preferences to myself. Yet, I am starting to learn my limits when regarding the Heating, Ventilation and A/C appliance settings. That’s because my in-laws have no issue in the least simply changing my Heating, Ventilation and A/C setting when they are visiting my dwelling. And usually without asking. My husband won’t call them out on it. But, I’m not prepared for all out war with my in-laws over the Heating, Ventilation and A/C appliance setting. I do believe that I will be programming our Heating, Ventilation and A/C so that it can’t be manually adjusted any longer when they visit.
